Advancing your Practice

Yoga Advancement series with Christine Anderson

This 5 month series at Santosha Westboro is for steady practitioners who have been practicing for a minimum of two years and are looking for classes that can take them deeper.

Saturdays from 4-5:30pm beginning in October 2011.

Each month will have a different focus, and the entire series is a linear progression to have you going deeper physically, mentally & emotionally within your practice.

4 week series $70, Full 5 months $300

October - DEEP FORWARD BENDS:
Advanced forward bending means opening the hips & strengthening the abs in order to create the necessary space in the body to get those legs behind your head one day! In this 4 week series we will progress gradually to attain a deeper awareness in the core necessary for advancement in ALL areas of practice.

November - INVERSIONS
Working with the awareness from the previous forward bending workshop, the core strength already gained will provide the inner intelligence to support the mental shift of 'turning your world upside-down'!

December - LONG HOLDS for STRENGTH
Now that the core is in shape and our perspective has been inverted, build strength to maintain your place in the world. In this series we challenge the limits of our mind by practicing the 'simple' poses in a challenging way. You'll be surprised by the level of advancement this will offer.

January - DEEP BACK BENDS
Energizing. Heart opening. Exhilarating.
All of the preceding asanas prepare the body and the mind for the energy and circulatory flow experienced in deep back bending. these 5 weeks will explore the steps needed to 'bend over backwards' without losing your ground.

February - FLOW FOR ENDURANCE
Once the body is open, flexible and strong, the breath flows effortlessly. This series will lead the practitioner through a flow that will demonstrate how the deepening of the asana practice through the previous 4 months can bring you into a more effortless, meditative state within the flow of your practice. With little instruction you will have the space and silence to experience the true sense of you in practice.
